The Preservation Lab, a partnership to preserve and conserve the collections of the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library and the University of Cincinnati Libraries, seeks applicants for a Conservation Assistant position. The Conservation Assistant is a technician level position with on-the-job training that may appeal to emerging conservation professionals. This position will join a collaborative team of 7 full-time staff members, including conservators, a preservation librarian, technicians, student workers and volunteers to preserve collections from both institutions.
Job Opportunity: Conservator, Head of Paintings Conservation Lab – Ford Conservation Center
The Gerald R. Ford Conservation Center is looking for a dynamic conservator to run its paintings conservation lab. As the leader of the painting's conservation lab, the conservator will treat works from a broad range of public and private clients throughout the region. The conservator will examine paintings, prepare treatment proposals - including time and cost estimates - and conserve artifacts and collections. The conservator will provide preservation expertise and outreach, participate in the Center's educational activities, and supervise technicians, interns and volunteers on painting conservation projects.

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is seeking a Conservator of Objects to join its conservation team. Working closely with curatorial and collections staff, the Conservator of Objects will oversee all activities associated with museum’s collection of over 25,000 objects. Leading a staff of two conservators and a pre-program outdoor sculpture technician, the Conservator of Objects will manage and participate in a wide range of activities, including treatment, loan preparations, exhibition activity, research, grant projects, preventive initiatives, courier trips, and outreach.

The Art Institute of Chicago is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time position of Book Conservation Technician to join its dynamic Conservation and Science Department. Reporting to the Senior Book Conservator, the Book Conservation Technician prepares book and archival collections for exhibition, installation, loans, storage, committee meetings and conservation examination. The Technician is responsible for providing basic care for the collection including maintenance, proper handling, the construction of protective enclosures for book and archival collection materials, and environmental control in storage and exhibition.
