Job Opportunity: Conservation Technician / Indianapolis Museum of Art - Newfields
The Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields seeks a full-time Conservation Technician, to join a multi-discipline team in care of a superb collection spanning 5,000 years of history. The Conservation Technician supports the activities of the conservators and the general operation of the Conservation Department towards the care and preservation of the art and artifacts held by Newfields. This includes assisting with the proper display, storage and treatment of the Museum collection. Weekly preventative conservation routines are a major responsibility of the position. A significant percentage of the technician work will be in direct assistance to both the Objects and Textile Conservation specialties.
The position salary will range from of $44,000 to $52,000 per year, dependent on the qualifications of the selected candidate. Newfields provides eligible staff with a competitive package of employee benefits.
Preference will be given to applicants holding a Bachelor’s degree in an art related field of study and previous years experience in museum conservation practices.
