Job Opportunity: Conservation Resident at Northwestern University Libraries in Evanston, IL
Professional Librarian Vacancy: Northwestern University Libraries offer an advanced post-graduate conservation residency (previously called a fellowship) for a two-year appointment, September 1, 2022 - August 31, 2024. The conservation residency provides practical experience in a busy academic library conservation lab balancing treatment responsibilities with professional research activities. There will be the opportunity to gain bench experience, develop skills in treatment decision making, and research a topic of interest.

Working with Fire Professionals
The Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries (CARLI) Preservation Committee would like to invite MRCG members to the virtual lecture "Working with Fire Professionals" on January 25, 2022, at 2-3 pm Central time.
Working with Fire Professionals is an introduction to what fire departments do with a special look at Fire Prevention activities.

2021 MIDWEST REGIONAL CONSERVATION GUILD ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Safety is of our utmost concern in order to host an in-person meeting this year. With the rapid spread of the Delta variant and 99% of Covid hospitalizations happening to the unvaccinated, the MRCG board has decided to require Covid vaccination for in-person conference attendees, in addition to masks.

Conservation Technician Position at Northwestern University Libraries
The Conservation Technician is based in the Preservation Work group, reports to the Chief Conservator and has the primary responsibility of coordinating and performing conservation treatments and housings on both circulating and special collections materials. They play an important role in disaster response, exhibits, departmental policy and other activities.

2020 MRCG Annual Symposium cancelled
Regrettably, after extensive discussion, the board for MRCG has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s physical annual conference, which was to be in Kansas City, hosted by the Nelson-Atkins Museum and KU Libraries. It was clear to the board that to continue to plan for a physical conference this year….
